I looked at it and it looked and felt brand new. To my surprise, it was a brand new drone, not just a replacement of the camera and gimbal module which was faulty. Although it cost me about 400 Euro. Very happy now with my brand new Mavic 2 Pro. Cheers. PS. I also had the New Mavic 2 firmware 01.00.0790 allready installed on it.
Three Reasons 1: The Camera's electronics are on the gimbal itself (that would contain any specific hardware/software for that camera) 2: DJI Go 4 App supports DJI's entire line of drones. 3: Flashing firmware would add a 1 hour process to repairs/camera swaps, and DJI doesn't want it's techs spending hours on that kind of thing I'm thinking
DJI sells separate gimbal covers for the Mavic 2 Pro and the Mavic 2 Zoom, each of which is specially designed for the specific drone. The gimbal cover is meant to be installed on the drone whenever it is being transported to prevent damage or dust buildup on the gimbal.
There has been a few post on here about scratched Gimbals out of the box and it seems by just taking the Gimbal cover off and putting it on scratches it and some suggested putting some tape in the Gimbal cover or use some felt to prevent this until DJI fixrs the problem or a third party comes out with a soft rubber Gimbal, It is also thought that factory workers could be scratching it during
Here's a couple ideas: Gimbal cover - add a small square of blue painters tape with a 4" florescent flag to the outside of the cover. Gimbal lock - add a small "service tag" on a piece of string you can easily see with text which will act as a visual reminder to "Remove Before Flight". Using a pre-flight check list helps me too.

The filter is 2 mm taller than protective ring (see below). When you put the cover on the front of the barrel, the back of the cover doesn’t snap down.
